Music Monday: Prince 1958-2016

For some reason, listening to Prince takes me back to a time I turned 14, and the world stretched out ahead of me. He landed on the artists-you-don’t-listen-to list for his provocative lyrics and style. His melodies bent my ear and I will still stop what I do to listen to his music on the radio. Prince’s passing at 58 reminds me we have a finite time on earth, something I state from to time to time, but his passing drove it home. His music takes me back, but I am no longer 14. He never rested on ‘Little Red Corvette’ or ‘Purple Rain’, he kept writing and recording. He simply kept going, believing he will live through his music and the people listening to it.

As for favourite tracks, I have many, but this single came at a time I didn’t believe the title:

Last but not least:

Honey I know, I know, I know times are changing
It’s time we all reach out for something new
That means you too
