A few months ago I signed up for two running events. At the time training had gone well until the events of May 9th. I had to miss both events due to my back. In running ‘DNS’ means ‘Did Not Start’. While I feel better enough to begin simple housework, I don’t feel better enough to even risk a 10 K walk. When I walked 5 K two weeks ago, during a day things felt a little better, I paid for it the next day. I even asked the physiotherapists if I can walk the 10 K event. He said it wouldn’t damage anything only aggravate it.
I didn’t want to take that chance.
On one hand I picked up my race kit and have this new t-shirt. On the other I had to take a look at my goals and readjust. I did sign up for the 10, 10, and 5 in September. If I want to at least run it and cross the finish line, time has gone out the window for the time being.
Such a shame you’re back hasn’t been very cooperative. I know how debilitating back pain can be. I watched Mom suffer with it almost all my life and my own back flares up on a regular basis. Take care, my friend.
