A Special Music Monday: Let’s Dance by David Bowie

Put on your red shoes and dance the blues

August 17, 1987.

My grandmother had a heart attack the day I went to the Glass Spider concert at the old Winnipeg Stadium. That day had a lot of stories attached to it. My friends and I originally went to see Duran Duran, one of two opening acts for the concert.

From the staging to the musicianship, Bowie made a rock concert an experience. When I heard about his passing, I remembered him singing at the top of the massive spider adorning the stage, and that’s an iota of his overall career. Go on social media and see people remember Ziggy Stardust or his 60’s work.

I consider myself lucky to witness that artistry. Rest in peace Mr. Bowie.
