I saw a teaser for Zootopia before Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The minds behind Wreck-it Ralph and Big Hero 6 already delivered big-hearted stories in both features. This time, we follow Nick Fox (Jason Bateman, Arrested Development) and Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin, Once Upon a Time) as they overcome species animosity to solve a mystery impacting the city of Zootopia (also the title of the film)
At heart, I am a big kid. I went to see Inside/Out by myself, along with Finding Nemo and Big Hero 6. I went to see Frozen with a group of friends after our first choice didn’t work out. I came out of the theatre with Let It Go in my head. (Along with many kids and soon many exhausted parents.) Music and animated features go together like a song stuck in your head. The latest Music Monday selection will prove no different.
Shakira not only sings the theme ‘Try Everything’ for the movie, but she also plays a pop diva named Gazelle. (Like Madonna and Cher no last name needed.) The theme itself features music and lyrics by co-written by Sia. It also has all trademarks of her music like a good beat, but also an unbeatable message. ‘Try Everything’ tells the listener success comes after failure, sometimes after more than one. It’s the song people will listen to during a workout; It’s a song people will listen to after a long day; It’s a song people will listen to who generally wouldn’t listen to this kind of music, but it gets them up and dancing.
I messed up tonight
I lost another fight
I still mess up but I’ll just start again
I keep falling down
I keep on hitting the ground
I always get up now to see what’s next
Birds don’t just fly
They fall down and get up
Nobody learns without getting it won
