I had to make a decision about participating in National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo) or giving National Blog Posting Month (NaBloMo) a shot. Both happen in November and both can help me build a writing habit. I had no new novel ideas to draft and the old ideas didn’t want to get picked up. Blogging every day for November wins.
To kick off the month, I choose Waterloo by ABBA for a number of reasons. I have talked about my love for ABBA previously on this blog, especially for the new album coming out this month, the first in decades. The song also features in one of my favourite scenes in 1994’s Muriel’s Wedding. In the movie, Muriel goes to a resort with her ‘friends’ and meets Rhonda. They enter a lip-sync contest while the mean girls deal with their revelations their perfect clique sits on a faultline of infidelity within the group. In my drafts folder, I started to write about watching ‘Sharpe’ on Amazon Prime’s Britbox channel.
Strap in and hope I follow through this November.
Fingers x’ed!
