Library Technician Dialog
This blog maintained by two library techs and won the 2010 CLawBies award for best law blog. The entries mostly concentrate on law resources, but do cover other topics such as the importance of failure and hiring in rural libraries. The entries don’t happen every day, but once they appear are concise and well thought out.
LibTech Soup
From British Columbia comes a blog written by six library technicians as part of the Library Technicians and Assistants Interest Group of the British Columbia Library Association. The entries include point form news briefs from ‘Phil the Web Crawler’ , interviews, and one story about a student’s trip to Italy to fulfill the university transfer credits required in the Langara Library Tech program.
Both the above blogs made the smart move to make it collaborative, and take the pressure off one person. (It’s also something to consider if you want to start a blog on a given subject.) Phil the Webcrawler writes his entries in point form, teasing the reader to click and read more. Whatever the format, the number of writers in a blog, it comes down to two things:
- What do you want to say?
- Who do you want to say it to?
