Wrestling with Perfection(ism)

For the past three weeks, I have written, deleted, written some more, pressed backspace again and again, before withdrawing my hands from the keyboard to recognize perfectionism paid me a visit.  It’s not the topic of my piece (Michael Geist’s website), just the usual feeling of it’s not good and who do I think I am to write something of this nature?
Luckily I began to recognize the darn thing creeping into my writing.  The only way to combat perfectionism is have fun and enjoy what I do.  The blog keeps me sane, keeps my wits sharp, and it’s fun to share something with the world.

In fact the post about David Morrissey cast as the infamous Governor in The Walking Dead still gets views.  I felt stunned such an entry received some attention.  It’s just me and my nerdy knowledge of one actor after viewing a lot of British telly.  On the other hand I really want to write about Michael Geist.  Sometimes one must step back, evaluate, and plunge back into the thick of it.

As the saying goes do what you love and the rest will follow.  So far it’s stood well at this point in my life.  I guess it’s time to get acquainted again with this book:

The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
