Two Fan Armies Square Off
BBC American’s Anglophenia blog hosted another Anglo Fan Tournament in honour of the upcoming Olympic games. Fans vote for their favourite Brit in a series of match ups until one man is left standing. Things sometimes gets so heated in comments, the site had to step in to remind people about their manners. (Plus it’s just a fun, voting competition people!) The last tournament crowned Alan Rickman winner, with a great many hard-to-pick match ups. This time around it’s no different. One match up had me literally saying to the computer, “You are so cruel.” It’s best to describe this match up as a battle of two blokes playing baddies in leather.
Exhibit A
Exhibit B
While Tom Hiddleston played Loki with delicious, and malicious, glee I went for the bad guy in black. At the present time Richard Armitage is *gasp* losing, but just wait until The Hobbit for the rest of North America to discover him and his army.
Speaking of Tom Hiddleston (Again)
In The Avengers, Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr) describes Loki’s plan as a ‘Acme Dynamite Kit’. Joss Whedon loves his pop culture references and this one got my attention. I suspect Joss Whedon had Road Runner on the brain as he constructed Loki’s plan for world domination. In one scene, Loki catches an arrow shot by Hawkeye and turns his head with a look akin to saying ‘really?’
However, the wily Hawkeye shot an arrow meant to explode on Loki in the first place.
I knew this looked a little familiar in the Road Runner universe. I revisited my childhood watching Road Runner cartoons on YouTube. Sure enough, I found a clip eerily similar to the scene:
