In honour of their induction into the Hall of Fame during the Junos, one of my favourite tracks from The Barenaked Ladies. These guys are around my age and when they sing ‘this is me in grade 9,’ I nod and remember. One time, one of my best friends from Junior/Senior High said, “I want to go back! Don’t’ you want to?” Figures she wanted to, she seemed to glide through with little problem. While I nod and remember, those years recede in my rearview, waiting for a creative use.

While they’re a little younger than me, we went to high school in the same suburb of Toronto, so I can really relate. Grade 9 was first year of high school and we were known as “minor niners”, in a derogatory way. Being the young ones in high school was not the most fun ever.
